Patrizia Panarello has a pedagogical and socio-anthropological training, teaches Intercultural Education and Peace Studies at the University of Messina. Former Councillor in the Council Accorinti (2013-2016), she has dealt with environmental education in schools (intercultural educational gardens), critical consumption and sustainable development, founding in Messina a group of purchase solidarity (2012). Taking into account the requests that in the last twenty years come from UNESCO and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, it deals with intercultural education understood as “Global Education”, ie as global education that includes within itself the education for development and sustainable development, human rights education, education for peace and conflict prevention, citizenship education.
Among his publications: “Education for interculturality and sustainability: the policies of the European Union and UNESCO”. He collaborates with the University of Valencia in Spain for the creation of a UNESCO Interdisciplinary Chair: “Studies for Peace, Intercultural Education and Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean”.
